Job Summary:
Our client, a leading financial institution in Ghana, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Credit to oversee and manage the credit risk function. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit risk management, regulatory compliance, and leadership within the banking sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the bank’s credit risk management framework, policies, and procedures in line with Bank of Ghana regulations.
- Oversee credit portfolio performance, ensuring quality, profitability, and compliance.
- Provide independent assurance to the Board and senior management on credit risk exposures and controls.
- Monitor and review credit risk policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with Basel III/IV principles.
- Challenge credit risk decisions and provide independent oversight to ensure sound credit risk management.
- Report on credit risk exposures and mitigation strategies to senior management and the Board.
- Support senior management with insights on credit risk and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- A minimum of 8–10 years’ progressive experience in credit management, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role within a financial institution.
- Demonstrated experience in credit risk management, collections, loan recovery, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial statements for underwriting credit.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships internally and externally.
