Job Purpose:
To oversee and continuously improve the company's health, safety, and environmental management systems, ensuring a safe working environment, full regulatory compliance, and the promotion of a strong safety culture across all manufacturing and production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Health & Safety Management:

  • Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identification to prevent workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety rules, regulations, and sanitation standards across all departments.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports with root-cause analysis and corrective action plans.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks for all employees and contractors.
  • Monitor and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory and ensure proper usage.

Environmental Management:

  • Supervise waste management, pollution control, and environmental compliance in line with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
  • Monitor environmental impacts (e.g., emissions, effluent discharge, noise levels) and implement mitigation measures.
  • Support the company's sustainability initiatives and environmental improvement plans.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with all local occupational health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, including inspection logs, training registers, incident reports, and statutory documentation.
  • Prepare and submit regular HSE performance reports to management.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., EPA, Department of Factory Inspectorate) during audits and inspections.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, fire drills, and first-aid protocols.
  • Ensure fire-fighting equipment, alarms, and emergency exits are fully functional and accessible at all times.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Reduction in Lost Time Injuries (LTI) and Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR).
  • 100% completion of scheduled safety inspections and training.
  • Zero regulatory non-compliance findings.
  • Improved waste management and environmental metrics.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or HND in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Certifications: NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 45001, or equivalent is a strong added advantage.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of Ghanaian HSE regulations, excellent observation and reporting skills, ability to influence at all levels, proficiency in MS Office.
