Job Purpose 

The Mining Operations Superintendent is responsible for overseeing mining operations, ensuring safety regulations are met and production targets are achieved. The role would seek to coordinate staff, manage budgets, and implement mining plans. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop and implement mine plans and strategies to achieve production targets and optimize resources. 

• Supervise and manage mine operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling. 

• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations and standards. 

• Monitor and analyze mine performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. 

• Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering and maintenance, to coordinate activities and ensure efficient operations. 

• Prepare and present reports and presentations on mine performance, including budget and production forecasts. 

• Ensure that equipment, tools, and supplies are available and maintained to support mine operations. 

• Manage and develop a team of mine personnel, including training and performance evaluations.

 • Monitor and evaluate operational costs & productivity on a periodic basis. 

• Compile and propose a production work plan and monitor the achievement of production targets in accordance with established production parameters. 

• Check and evaluate reports on the mining process and results. 

• Analyse daily, weekly, and monthly and annual production reports and mining costs and compare them with mining plans and budgets (Gap Analysis). 

• Identify potential work accidents / environmental damage and take preventive and corrective measures. 

• Identify subordinates' development needs and determine subordinate development methods. 

• Any other tasks that may be assigned by senior leadership. 

Required Qualification & Experience 

● Bachelor's Degree in Mining with eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience in the same or similar role. 

● Mine Superintendent Certification from Mincom. 

● Knowledge of Mine design software. 

● Valid Ghanaian Driver’s license. 

Technical Competencies 

• Proficient in data analysis and report writing. 

• Strong knowledge of mining operations and procedures 

• Ability to manage and lead a team of miners and other staff. 

• Understanding of safety regulations and practices. 

• Have knowledge about mining operations, heavy equipment operations and knowledge of occupational safety & health and the environment (K3LH)
