About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and capable leader to support the Terminal Manager at our Bulwer Terminal, playing a key role in the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of terminal operations and maintenance.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll work closely with employees and contractors to ensure operational excellence across production, maintenance, stock management, asset reliability and cost control. You’ll also help drive continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring full compliance with statutory obligations and Puma Energy standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations & Maintenance

  • Coordinate daily production schedules and support maintenance planning and execution
  • Monitor stock levels and proactively communicate risks or impacts to key stakeholders and customers
  • Coordinate safe and efficient ship discharges with shore officers
  • Obtain and maintain Wharf Attendant and Shore Officer accreditations
  • Minimise the impact of equipment failures through proactive problem-solving
  • Support the reliable operation of control systems and automated gantry operations
  • Ensure compliance with the Puma Safety Management System, Australian Standards and regulatory requirements
  • Develop, maintain and improve operating, isolation and standard work procedures
  • Assist in managing Permit to Work and site safety systems
  • Supervise major terminal works, upgrades and planned shutdowns

Leadership & Management

  • Lead, mentor and develop team members to build capability and confidence
  • Provide operational coverage for the Terminal Manager when required
  • Foster a positive, safety-focused and high-performance team culture
  • Assist in managing capital projects as delegated, from planning through to delivery
  • Monitor operational and maintenance costs in line with approved budgets together with the Maintenance Supervisor.


About You

You’re a proactive and collaborative leader who communicates clearly, stays calm under pressure and enjoys making things better. You bring a strong service mindset, are flexible with working hours when required, and are confident managing unexpected operational challenges.

You will have

  • At least 5 years’ experience in operations, ideally within oil, energy or manufacturing environments
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and work effectively with diverse teams
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards, engineering standards and industry safety practices
  • A basic understanding of Trade Practices requirements
  • Strong computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience in emergency response and managing high-pressure situations
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational, planning and customer-service skills


Highly Regarded Experience

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills relating to process plant equipment
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Exposure to PLCs and automated control systems (DCS / SCADA)
  • Experience using CMMS and HSE software systems
  • Permit-issuing experience
  • Project management exposure
