Underground Mining Alliance Akyem, ("UMAA") is a Joint Venture between African Underground Mining Services Limited (AUMS) and Rocksure International carrying out underground development and production works for the AngloGold Ashanti (Obuasi) Mine.
UMAA is seeking to employ qualified, experienced, and motivated Electrical Pump Fitter to join our operations in Obuasi. Remuneration package includes attractive salary and performance-based incentive payments for the right candidates.

Electrical Pump Fitter
Reporting to the Electrical Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical pump systems essential to our mining operations. This role requires a proactive and safety-oriented individual with a solid background in handling electrical and mechanical pump systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect and maintain various types of pumps, including submersible, centrifugal, and diaphragm pumps, essential for water and slurry movement.
- Diagnose and repair pump motors and associated equipment in accordance with mining operation needs.
- Conduct routine maintenance and preventive measures to minimize equipment downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair pump systems and related electrical circuits, ensuring prompt repairs such as replacing parts, rewiring, and system recalibration and minimal downtime.
- Use diagnostic tools and testing equipment to troubleshoot and identify electrical or mechanical faults.
- Test electrical components using multimeters, insulation testers, and other diagnostic tools.
- Inspect and test electrical components, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Monitor performance and report on system operations, identifying and resolving issues swiftly.
- Ensure safety by adhering to all mining safety protocols and using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a safe work environment.
- Complete various daily, weekly, monthly reports as required.
- Be open to learning new methods and be willing to share your skills and knowledge with co-workers.
