Role Purpose
To provide professional engineering accountability for the safe design, operation, monitoring, and closure of the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), and company governance standards.
The RTFE acts as the site’s designated technical authority for tailings integrity and risk management.



Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the designated Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer, accountable for the safety and integrity of the TSF
- Ensure TSF design, operation, and modifications comply with regulatory requirements, GISTM, and approved design criteria
- Review and approve tailings deposition plans, embankment raises, and water management strategies
- Oversee TSF monitoring programs, including instrumentation, inspections, and performance assessments
- Identify, assess, and manage tailings-related risks, ensuring risks are documented and mitigated
- Coordinate independent technical reviews, audits, and Engineer of Record (EoR) engagements
- Ensure accurate record keeping and reporting of TSF performance, inspections, and compliance status
- Lead and maintain the TSF Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) and support emergency drills
- Provide technical input into life-of-mine planning and TSF closure strategies
- Promote a strong tailings safety culture through training, communication, and cross-functional collaboration


 Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Mining Engineering. Registered Professional Engineer (or eligible for registration).
- Minimum 8–12 years experience in tailings, geotechnical or water management roles.
- Demonstrated experience with TSF design, operation, and governance frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of GSTM, ANCOLD / CDA / ICOLD guidelines (as applicable).
- MINCOM Certification (optional).
