About This Role

This role will be responsible for the effective rebuilding, repair and refurbishment of process plant mechanical equipment, including gearboxes, pumps, valves, fabricated and welded components and machined parts with the objective of reducing rework and enhancing operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and carry out the overhaul, rebuilding, and repair of process plant mechanical equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, valves and bearing installations.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical faults and determine the appropriate scope and method of repair.
  • Read, interpret, and apply information from technical manuals, schematics and blueprints to guide maintenance and repair activities.
  • Inspect, test, and adjust equipment after rebuilding or repair to ensure compliance with operational and performance standards.
  • Comply fully with AGBL’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures, and demonstrate safety leadership in all work activities.
  • Maintain sound knowledge of AGBL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) standards and guidelines and ensure adherence to them.
  • Actively participate in and promote AGBL’s continuous improvement programs.
  • Provide subordinates with the necessary training, skills, knowledge and tools to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Monitor work activities to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and corporate requirements, and report any non‑compliance to management.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents, and ensure that corrective and preventive actions are implemented within agreed timelines
  • Perform other work‑related duties as assigned from time to time.


Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor with demonstrated experience in plant maintenance activities, preferably within a metallurgical or mineral processing plant environment. Experience should include component rebuilding, fabrication, and equipment assembly and disassembly.
  • Possession of a valid Mechanical Technician Certificate of Competency issued by the Minerals Commission of Ghana.
  • Proven knowledge and practical experience in risk management and loss prevention processes.
  • Proven experience in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and sound knowledge of asset management principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively within multicultural teams.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities, with capacity to assess risk, interpret technical data and make informed, data‑driven decisions.
