About This Role

This role will be responsible for assisting with daily field operations supporting land reclamation, including seeding, erosion control and nursery activities to restore disturbed sites to agreed post‑mining land use. Provide support for broader environmental management programs at the mine, including blast monitoring, waste management, and air, water and noise quality monitoring.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine monitoring of environmental parameters, including water quality, air quality, dust, noise levels and waste management practices.
  • Collect, record, interpret and analyze environmental monitoring data and compile accurate and timely reports.
  • Support the implementation of environmental management programs and ensure compliance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and applicable local regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in routine environmental inspections and audits and assist in the implementation of corrective and preventive actions where required.
  • Assist in the investigation of environmental incidents and prepare reports on findings and recommended actions.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date environmental records, including monitoring data, permits, approvals and waste management documentation.
  • Support environmental awareness initiatives, community engagement activities and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
  • Ensure the safe handling, storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to minimize the environmental impact of mining and related activities.
  • Strictly adhere to AGBL Health and Safety standards, actively supporting and promoting safe work practices, hazard identification and risk control measures in all environmental activities.
  • Provide support, guidance and appropriate tools to line staff and contractor Health and Safety representatives to effectively discharge their environmental responsibilities.
  • Actively participate in and promote continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental performance, health and safety.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.


Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in an Environmental‑related discipline.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in environmental monitoring, compliance or environmental management within mining or other industrial operations.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant practical or field experience in environmental monitoring or management is considered in lieu of academic qualifications.
  • Sound knowledge of Ghanaian environmental legislation, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in environmental monitoring techniques, data collection, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Good understanding of waste management practices, pollution prevention and control measures and sustainability principles within mining or industrial environments.
  • Strong analytical, observational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Detail‑oriented, dependable and capable of working efficiently under pressure and in field‑based conditions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates high ethical standards, transparency, proactiveness and strong safety awareness.
