Job Description
Oyster Waste Management Services Limited is inviting applications from experienced and safety-conscious drivers for the position of Compactor Driver. The successful candidate will operate the company’s waste collection truck, follow assigned collection routes, ensure the safe transportation of waste, and work closely with the collection crew to maintain efficient service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate the compactor truck safely along designated collection routes and schedules.
* Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any faults.
* Coordinate with the waste collection crew during collection stops.
* Ensure collected waste is transported to approved disposal sites.
* Maintain accurate trip logs, fuel records, and waste tonnage records.
* Comply with DVLA requirements and road traffic regulations.
* Report accidents, breakdowns, and route obstructions to the Field Supervisor.
* Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and maintained in good working condition.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Minimum of Senior High School (SHS) education, with good literacy and numeracy skills.
* Valid Ghana DVLA Commercial Driver’s Licence, Class D or higher.
* Two to three years of verifiable experience driving heavy commercial vehicles or compactor trucks.
* A clean driving record.
* Good knowledge of local road networks and traffic regulations.
* Basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
* Physical fitness for extended driving hours.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Punctuality, reliability, and a strong commitment to road safety.
