Job Summary:
The Gas Analyst will play a critical role in the commercial and operational management of natural gas contracts and pipeline operations. This position involves analysing and managing gas contract administration, capacity management, nominations, allocations, and reconciliation processes. The Gas Analyst will support the company's gas trading and transportation activities, ensuring efficient commercial operations while providing accurate data analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in the energy sector, and the ability to interpret complex contractual and operational data to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Gas Contract Administration

  • Manage and administer gas supply and transportation contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Monitor contract performance, including volume obligations, pricing mechanisms, and delivery schedules.
  • Support the negotiation and renewal of gas contracts in collaboration with the commercial team.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract records and documentation.

2. Pipeline Commercial Operations

  • Oversee pipeline commercial operations, including capacity management, nominations, and allocation processes.
  • Coordinate with pipeline operators, shippers, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient gas flow and transportation.
  • Monitor pipeline capacity utilisation and recommend optimisation strategies.
  • Manage the nomination process, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to pipeline operators and regulators.

3. Gas Allocations and Reconciliation

  • Perform gas allocation and reconciliation processes to ensure accurate measurement, reporting, and settlement of gas volumes.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in gas volume measurements and billing.
  • Prepare and submit reconciliation reports to internal and external stakeholders.

4. Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Analyse gas market trends, pricing, and supply-demand dynamics to support commercial decision-making.
  • Prepare regular reports on gas volumes, contract performance, and operational metrics.
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to management for strategic planning.
  • Maintain and improve data management systems to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

5. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Liaise with internal teams, including commercial, finance, operations, and legal departments, to ensure alignment on gas-related activities.
  • Communicate effectively with external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, pipeline operators, and regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in meetings and provide technical and commercial input on gas operations and contracts.

6. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to gas trading and pipeline operations.
  • Support regulatory reporting and submissions to government agencies and regulatory authorities.
  • Stay updated on changes in energy sector policies and regulations that may impact gas operations.

7. Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in gas contract administration, nominations, and reconciliation.
  • Implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency and reduce commercial risks.
  • Support the development and implementation of new systems and tools to improve data analysis and reporting.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of working experience in gas contract administration, energy sector operations, or a related role.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of pipeline commercial operations, including capacity management, nominations, allocations, and reconciliation processes.
