Job Description
Media General is seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and results-oriented professional to fill the position of Group Head, Internal Audit. The successful candidate will lead the internal audit function across the organization, ensuring effective risk management, regulatory compliance, strong internal controls, and adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
The role involves developing risk-based audit plans, evaluating governance and operational processes, identifying control weaknesses, and presenting audit findings and recommendations to management and the Board. The successful applicant will also lead the audit team and coordinate external audit activities to support accountability, transparency, and organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of risk-based internal audit plans across the group.
- Assess internal controls, risk management systems, and corporate governance practices.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, financial policies, and IFRS.
- Identify operational, financial, and compliance risks and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
- Prepare and present audit reports, findings, and recommendations to senior management and the Board.
- Supervise and develop the internal audit team to ensure high-quality audit delivery.
- Coordinate external audits and monitor the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Promote accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ACCA, CA, IIA, or CISA.
- At least 10 years of post-qualification experience, including a minimum of 8 years in senior or managerial internal audit positions.
- Strong knowledge of auditing standards, risk management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical, report-writing, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with senior management and the Board.
