Accountant
Job Summary
A company located in Kokomlemle is seeking a results-driven and experienced Accountant to oversee its financial operations, support strategic decision-making, and ensure financial stability and compliance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, account reconciliation, financial planning, and overseeing accounting operations. Applicants with experience in the transportation industry will be given preference.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform financial management duties, including generating financial data, compiling reports, analysing industry trends, and assessing the company’s financial performance.
• Oversee the operations and development of the finance department.
• Develop and review financial policies, budgets, and procedures.
• Participate in recruitment, staff training, and regular assessments of financial processes.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations and financial reports.
• Develop budgets based on forecasts and monitor expenditure to ensure compliance with approved budgets.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Prepare statutory accounts and coordinate annual audits.
• Use financial analysis to support management decisions and improve business performance.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• A minimum of seven years of proven accounting experience, preferably in the transportation industry.
• Strong knowledge of accounting procedures and principles.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in accounting software.
• Experience using QuickBooks or other accounting software.
• Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
• Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing annual audits.
• Ability to delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of others.
• Applicants must be aged 37 years and above.
• Applicants must be married.
