The Employee Development Officer is responsible for all the education, training, and developmental activities of the company.
Job Summary
Support with the administration of annual performance management cycle in respect of staff and manager support, training needs extraction and annual scheduling.
Support and develop the company's education, training, and developmental functions, implementing policies, procedures, and systems to provide for effective training and development of company employees.
Support by conferring with managers and supervisors to determine training and development needs of employees.
Formulates training policies, programs, and schedules, based on knowledge of identified training needs, company production processes, business systems or changes in equipment, procedures or services and ensures implementation.
Maintains records and prepares statistical reports to evaluate performance of instructors and monitors progress of trainees.
Evaluates training and development ensuring effective training transfer to the workplace.
Ensures a safe work environment.
Performs any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Required Skills & Experience
Educated up to the degree level in Human Resource Development or equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
5 years related experience with at least 2 years in similar role.
Extensive knowledge in instructional practices, including preparation of teaching materials, testing, and course content.
Must have a high level of planning and organizational skills.
Proven people management skills and able to motivate a diverse team.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must demonstrate the ability to innovate, think conceptually and be able to develop appropriate resolution skills.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
HR functional experience in the maritime industry will be an added advantage.
