The Role
We’re hiring a *Mining Engineer* with *5+ years of practical experience* in open-pit or underground mining operations. You’ll be responsible for mine planning, production optimization, and ensuring safe, cost-effective extraction of mineral resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Design short-term and long-term mine plans, pit designs, and production schedules
- Monitor daily mining operations, drilling, blasting, and haulage for efficiency
- Conduct mine optimization studies to reduce costs and improve ore recovery
- Ensure compliance with mine safety regulations and environmental standards
- Prepare technical reports, budgets, and production forecasts for management
- Work with geologists and surveyors to reconcile models with actual production
- Supervise contractors and junior engineers on site
Requirements
- B.Eng/B.Tech in Mining Engineering or related discipline
- *Minimum 5 years* post-NYSC experience in active mining operations
- Proficient in mine planning software: Surpac, Datamine, Whittle, or MineSched
- Strong knowledge of drilling and blasting design, load & haul optimization
- Familiar with Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act, and Mines Safety Regulations
- COREN certification is an advantage
- Willingness to work on rotation and travel to remote mine sites
