Job Purpose
To lead and execute strategic procurement activities for raw materials, toolings, and consumables, ensuring cost optimization, quality compliance, and seamless supply chain continuity. The role requires driving cost-saving initiatives, managing vendor relationships, and maintaining optimal inventory levels while strictly adhering to IATF16949 quality standards and SAP MM processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Sourcing & Price Negotiation
- Lead price negotiations with suppliers for Raw Materials, BOP (Balance of Plant) Parts, Job Work, Toolings, Jigs, Fixtures, Machine Spares, and Consumables.
- Manage Raw Material (RM) indexing, handle price increase/decrease mechanisms, and implement cost-reduction strategies.
- Achieve monthly/quarterly Cost Saving Targets as defined by the management.
2. Technical Procurement & Product Development
- Drive product development initiatives for Press Parts, Rubber Parts, Raw Materials, and Toolings.
- Possess hands-on expertise in procuring SS (Stainless Steel), CR (Cold Rolled), HR (Hot Rolled), and Aluminum Sheets.
- Apply working knowledge of Plating, Press Work, Welding, and Machining processes to evaluate supplier capabilities.
3. Inventory & Stores Management
- Oversee Stores and Inventory Management to ensure inventory levels are maintained strictly as per management targets.
- Optimize stock turnover and minimize obsolescence while ensuring zero production downtime.
4. System Compliance & Data Management
- Demonstrate deep knowledge and hands-on experience with IATF16949 quality management standards in procurement processes.
- Utilize strong knowledge of the SAP MM (Materials Management) Module for all procurement-related transactions.
- Maintain robust Data Management systems and generate comprehensive MIS (Management Information System) reports as per management requirements using MS Office tools.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualification:
- B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Automobile Engineering from a recognized university/institution.
Professional Experience:
- 6 to 10 years of relevant procurement/purchase experience, specifically within the Automotive Industry.
- Proven track record in sourcing sheet metals, rubber components, and industrial consumables.
