Strategy and Business Effectiveness Leader

Job Purpose

To lead the development, execution and periodic refresh of the Company’s corporate strategy and integrate strategic planning, performance management, financial analysis and business effectiveness to ensure alignment of priorities, resources and accountabilities, enabling sustainable value creation, operational excellence and profitable growth across the Company’s oil and gas portfolio.

Key Accountabilities

• Leads the development, execution and periodic refresh of the corporate strategy and long-range strategic plan, advising the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board on strategic choices, risks and opportunities.
• Translates approved strategy into an integrated enterprise execution plan with defined initiatives, milestones, KPIs, accountable owners, required resources and expected benefits.
• Directs the integrated planning framework linking corporate strategy with production and reserves plans, annual budgets, long-range financial plans, capital programmes, workforce plans and Business Unit commitments.
• Oversees E&P asset profiling, portfolio analysis and capital prioritization to optimize the corporate portfolio and direct resources toward strategically aligned and economically robust opportunities.
• Directs market intelligence, economic analysis and scenario planning to identify opportunities for business growth, asset acquisition, divestment, dilution and performance improvement.
• Leads Strategy Committee and executive strategy-review processes, ensuring strategic decisions, actions, risks, accountability and expected benefits are documented and monitored to completion.
• Establishes the enterprise performance-management framework and leads to regular reviews of strategic, operational and financial performance, ensuring material variances are addressed through appropriate corrective actions.
• Provides strategic oversight of FP&A, strategy management, economic analysis, corporate planning, Business Unit planning and performance, and business-effectiveness assurance.
• Sponsors independent performance and business-effectiveness reviews of major projects, initiatives and processes, coordinating with Enterprise Risk and Internal Audit to ensure appropriate assurance coverage and avoid duplication.
• Ensures executive and Board reporting provides clear insight into performance drivers, outlook, risks, trade-offs, required actions and decisions.
• Builds and maintains effective relationships with Government, shareholders, lenders, rating agencies, joint-venture partners and other key stakeholders in support of the Company’s strategic objectives.
• Develops and implements the function’s workforce and capability strategy, building a high-performance culture, and maintaining succession plans for critical roles.
• Directs the preparation and management of the departmental budget, ensuring effective utilisation and control of resources in accordance with the Schedule of Financial Authorities.

Job Specifications

Minimum Qualifications

•  Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Strategy or a related discipline.

•  Master’s degree and/or recognised professional designation such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CMA or CFA is strongly preferred.

Minimum Experience

•  Minimum fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in strategy, planning, finance, performance management or business improvement.

•  Minimum seven (7) years in senior management or executive leadership, preferably in oil and gas industry.

•  Demonstrated experience advising Executive Leadership Teams and Boards and leading enterprise-wide change.
