About the Role
Newmont is seeking a highly specialized Mechanical Technician to focus on our Shovel and Drill fleet. This critical role requires advanced technical expertise to maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy mining machinery, directly impacting our production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute complex diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on shovels, drills, and related heavy mining equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Perform major component replacements (e.g., engines, transmissions, final drives) as required.
- Analyze equipment performance data to identify and address recurring issues.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are compliant with Newmont's rigorous safety and environmental standards.
- Mentor junior technicians and service personnel.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Trade Certification in Heavy Equipment Mechanics or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience maintaining large mining shovels and drills (e.g., P&H, Caterpillar, Komatsu).
- Advanced knowledge of hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting.
- Experience working in a large-scale open-pit mining operation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
