Job Summary:
The Dewatering Operator is responsible for the operation and monitoring of underground pumping systems to ensure water levels are maintained within safe limits, preventing flooding and ensuring safe working conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring: Continuously monitor pump performance, flow rates, and water levels via SCADA and physical inspections.
- Operation: Start, stop, and regulate pumps and valves to manage water reticulation.
- Basic Maintenance: Perform routine checks on pumps (greasing, gland packing adjustments) and report defects.
- Housekeeping: Maintain cleanliness and safety of pump stations and sumps.
- Emergency Response: Respond immediately to power outages or pump failures to prevent flooding.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Valid Underground Hard Rock Mining competency (or willingness to obtain).
- 2+ years of experience in pump operation or general underground operations.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in confined, hot, and wet environments.
