Job Summary:
The Workshop Engineer manages the surface engineering workshop facilities, ensuring the availability of heavy machinery, components, and fabrication services required for underground and surface operations. This role focuses on resource management, quality control, and fabrication efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management: Oversee daily activities in the workshop, including fabrication, machining, and component rebuilds.
- Resource Planning: Manage labor, materials, and equipment to meet internal customer demands.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all fabricated components and repaired parts meet engineering standards and specifications.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure workshop machinery (lathes, presses, welding machines) is maintained and safe to operate.
- Cost Control: Manage the workshop budget, including overtime and consumables.
- Safety: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols within the workshop environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in a heavy industrial workshop environment.
- Experience with fabrication, machining, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Strong leadership and planning skills.
