Job Summary:
This specialized technician maintains critical cooling and ventilation infrastructure. The role ensures underground climate control (refrigeration plants) and air flow (ventilation fans) are operational to maintain safe working temperatures and air quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Refrigeration: Maintain and repair industrial refrigeration units, chillers, and bulk air coolers (BACs).
- Ventilation: Service, repair, and install primary and secondary ventilation fans.
- Diagnostics: Troubleshoot faults in compressor systems, refrigerant circuits, and fan motors.
- Monitoring: Monitor temperature and airflow sensors to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Compliance: Handle refrigerants in compliance with environmental regulations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Trade Test Certificate (Refrigeration Mechanic / Millwright).
- SAQCC Gas registration (Category B or higher) is mandatory.
- 3+ years of experience with industrial refrigeration and large-scale ventilation systems.
- Experience in underground mining environments is highly advantageous.
